Dr. Colton Purscell · WLF Club, Fort Worth · New clients welcome
A heavy bench means nothing if you can’t carry groceries up the stairs without your back lighting up. Functional training in Fort Worth at WLF Club builds the kind of strength that shows up where you actually need it, lifting, carrying, twisting, sprinting, getting off the floor.

What RFT functional training is
RFT, “rounds for time”, is WLF’s coached conditioning format. You move through structured rounds of full-body work against the clock, which trains strength, capacity, and movement quality at once. The clock isn’t there to wreck you. It’s there to measure you, so progress is a number you can see, not a feeling you hope for.
Every session is coached and scaled. A WLF coach sets the load and the standard for your body that day, watches your mechanics, and pulls intensity back the second form breaks down. You leave with something built, not something to recover from for three days.
“Dr Colton is intentional… treats you like an athlete and not just another appointment.”

Who it’s built for
- People bored of isolation machines who want training that carries into real life
- Athletes who need an engine and full-body strength for their sport
- Busy adults who want maximum return on a 45-minute session
- Anyone who wants to feel capable again, not just sore
How the training works
Functional training pairs compound, multi-joint movement with conditioning so you build strength and work capacity together. In a six-week study, high-intensity functional training raised measurable physical work capacity (HIFT and work-capacity study), and adding structured strength work has been shown to improve performance in endurance athletes (strength training in endurance athletes). Your coach manages the progression so intensity climbs without outrunning your recovery.
The goal was never to be good at the gym. The goal is to be hard to break in the rest of your life.
Functional work is one lane of WLF’s wider performance program in Fort Worth. Pair it with one-on-one personal training when you want dedicated strength focus, and lean on the recovery suite to keep showing up.
