Dr. Colton Purscell · WLF Club, Fort Worth · New swimmers welcome
Swimmers log thousands of strokes a week, and every one of them runs through the same shoulders. Training for swimmers in Fort Worth at WLF Club builds the dryland strength, mobility, and recovery that make you faster in the water and far harder to injure out of it.

Why swimmers train on land
The water builds your stroke and your engine. It does not build the shoulder stability, posterior-chain strength, and core power that protect you from the repetitive load, and that add real force to your pull. Dryland training is where those get built.
WLF programs the off-the-wall work that swim volume can’t provide: strong, stable shoulders, a powerful core and hips, and the mobility to hold a clean position deep into a set. The result is more speed and fewer of the shoulder problems that sideline swimmers.
“Top notch facility and high level care! Would give 10 stars if I could.”
Logan Shemwell, WLF Club member
What the program covers
- Shoulder stability and strength to handle high stroke volume safely
- Posterior-chain and core power to drive a stronger pull and kick
- Mobility work for the thoracic spine and shoulders your stroke demands
- Recovery tools to manage the load of heavy training blocks
The honest take
Swimming is one of the most shoulder-intensive sports there is, and the swimmers who stay healthy are the ones who build stability and strength around the joint instead of swimming through warning signs. Structured strength work has been shown to improve performance in endurance athletes (strength training in endurance athletes). Dryland strength won’t fix bad technique, that’s your coach in the pool, but it gives your body the foundation to express it safely.
The shoulder doesn’t fail from one bad stroke. It fails from ten thousand good ones with nothing built underneath them.
This program draws on coached personal training in Fort Worth, assisted stretching for mobility, and the recovery suite.

Do you coach swimming in a pool?
This program is dryland, strength, mobility, and recovery built to support your swimming. We complement your in-pool coaching, not replace it.
My shoulders already bother me. Can you help?
Often, yes, by building stability and strength around the joint. For an active injury, we’ll coordinate the right care first.
How often should I do dryland work?
Two sessions a week alongside your swim training is a strong starting point. We’ll program around your season.
